Before joining UKAT, Richard spent over 20 years working in the fast-paced world of the City as a foreign exchange trader. During that time, he battled a gambling addiction, an experience that profoundly shaped his outlook on life. After achieving recovery, Richard made the decision to leave the trading floor behind and devote himself to helping others find the same freedom he had worked so hard to achieve.
In his role at UKAT, Richard combines professional expertise with compassion and clarity. He knows how difficult it can be to take the first step towards recovery and takes pride in guiding people through that process with patience, respect, and understanding. Over the past 10 years, he has supported countless individuals and families in making life-changing decisions, while also mentoring colleagues and helping to lead the admissions team with integrity and care.
Away from work, Richard is a devoted family man who values the time he spends with his loved ones. He is also a passionate golfer, looking for the next best golf course to complete.
From overcoming his own struggles to helping others begin their recovery journeys, he embodies the values of empathy and strength that define UKAT.
